The world is full of puzzles.

Crossword puzzles, word searches, Jigsaw puzzles, Sudoku,
dog puzzles, mazes, children’s puzzles.

But one of the most complicated puzzles one can solve is
the puzzle of yourself. What pieces
make up you? When fitted together,
what are you supposed to be?

There are many pieces in my puzzle, which have come
together to make me who I am today.

I have always had a passion for working with kids. In fact, I spend a lot of my free time
volunteering. I go out to classrooms
and into the community with the education department at the San Diego Humane
Society. I also co-lead a girl scout
troop.

A catalyst is something that causes a reaction to
happen. My catalyst is named
Katie. She owns a dance studio. One
day, she taught my Girl Scouts how to dance for their dance badge. I left jealous, but inspired to work with
kids, too. I learned from Katie that
living your passion inspires others to live theirs.

I ended up getting into the multiple subjects and M.Ed.
program at UCSD. I lived in this
room. I have taken fabulous classes
from great professors. I have also had
a loving and supportive cohort. We
laughed. We cried. We talked about our dreams.

Another loving and supporting person in my life is my
mom. She talked to me on the
phone. A lot. She talked to me in the mornings. She talked to me in the evenings. She talked to me during the school
day. She talked to me on
weekends. She knows a lot about
special ed. And she taught me more acronyms that FDR could ever dream of.

Student teaching gave me opportunities to work with

Deepak Chopra said “There are no extra pieces in the universe. Everyone is here because
he or she has a place to fill, and every piece must fit itself into the big
jigsaw puzzle.”

We had a chance to chat about this earlier. You have a nice idea and the imagery is great. Your outline and structure is well done. The ending statement is really good.
ReplyDeleteI like your idea of how everything you do makes up the pieces of your life. I also like when you describe how you are trying to find your place in the world just like how a puzzle piece has a specific part in the world. I agree with Chris, your ending is powerful and impacting. Good work!
ReplyDeleteHello Ms. Colombo!
ReplyDeleteI love how I can just feel the love and support exuding from your puzzle of life and teaching. It is a very simple but well thought out little script. Perhaps you could figure out how to make your all your pictures into the shape of puzzle pieces being put together on the screen. :) (If not too cheesy.. hee hee) But this is wonderful and it makes me smile.
Love, Andrea C Wang
Thank you for taking the time to read my digital script...your comments gave me the confidence to move forward!
ReplyDeleteI love your script! I see it evolving as I read. The puzzle idea is a wonderful idea. I love Deepak and your end quote fits brilliantly at the end. I like the idea (at the end) of you typing the words on the computer (the quote)...I also envisioned you typing on an old typewriter rather than a computer. I don't know why...just throwing out my thoughts. I also envisioned you putting the quote into "wordle". You could do a screen shot, and copy it into the movie. Then zoom in on every word of the quote individually...then at the end showing the entire wordle (which would be the "big jigsaw puzzle")...hmm....I think I might like the typing idea better....anywho--I'm just thinking aloud. Whatever you decide, will be great! I can't wait to see it! --Jodylynn
